Hazrat Abu Ahmed Chishti was the son of Sultan Farsanafah. He was born in Chisht, Afghanistan on the 6th of Ramadhan 260AH. In the Chishti lineage, he was the disciple of Hazrat Khwaja Abu Ishaq Shami Chishti and the murshid of Hazrat Khwaja Abu Muhammad Chishti, may Allah be pleased with them all.
At the age of 7 he started the company of Sheikh Abu Ishaq Shami and at the age of 13 he was made his Mureed.
There is a story about his relationship with his mureed, Abu Muhammad:
When Abu Muhammad’s mother was 4 months pregnant, every night at the time of the Tahajud prayer, there was a movement in her womb, and she used to hear the zikr of “La ilaha illallah” coming from her womb. She reported this matter to the wali of the time, Hazrat Khwaja Abu Ahmed Abdaal Chisti (Radi Allahu Anhu). Upon hearing this, Hazrat Abu Ahmed Chisti (Radi Allahu Anhu) congratulated her and said to her: “In your womb is a very pious son and because of him Allah will shower mercy upon you, because he makes his ibaadat at Tahajud time.” She further reports that, since the day she reported this incident to Hazrat Khwaja Abu Ahmed Chisti (Radi Allahu Anhu), he used to pay regular visits to her home, and made salaam saying: “Peace be on you, O Wali of Allah. You are my successor.” She used to then question Khwaja Abu Ahmed Chisti (Radi Allahu Anhu): “Who are you greeting, and whom have you given khilafat?” The Khwaja responded by saying: “O pious lady, I have greeted the son you are carrying in your womb, and I have bestowed khilafat upon him.” She then asked him: “How do you know whether it is a boy or a girl that I carry, and if he will become your mureed. How have you given your khilafat already?” Khwaja Abu Ahmed Chisti (Radi Allahu Anhu) said to her: “I have seen the name of your son written on the LOHE MAHFOOZ, and that he will be among the great Awliya of his era. You are carrying a son whose name will be Abu Muhammad, and he will be my mureed and khalifa.
He passed away on 14th Rabi ath Thani 355AH.
